First of all, you don't have to do anything. A lot of people are quite comfortable hanging around, participating in discussions, chatting with people, occasionally proposing ideas. To many of us we are more of a community than an organization, and a lot of people enjoy being around without having an official job.

But if you want something to do - good for you! Like anywhere else, a lot of the higher level jobs are reserved for people who are experienced, proven trustworthy, or the cousin of the person in charge hof employment, but there are all sorts of things that any new immigrant can immediately get into:

The military accepts everyone and can be a full-time job when there's a recwar on. Recwars are a simulation of real combat played against the military of foreign countries, and everyone participating gets to both make strategic decisions and exercise their skills at writing. The SNARL Charter explains some recwarring rules; the others are easy enough to learn as you go. If there's no war going on, you can still never be too prepared - talk to the Minister of Military Affairs about what sort of openings there are for you in Shireroth's armed forces. The Minister's AIM is Punk Rocker VIII - or he can be reached in the Ministry of Military Affairs forum in the Ministries section.

Have an interest in journalism? Shireroth can always use more media - throughout the years we've had newspapers, weblogs, even radio broadcasts and podcasts - but we're not so good with that any more and would be happy to support anyone trying to carve out a media empire. If you make websites or graphics, there's almost certainly a position for you available in the Ministries of Information and the Interior. We're always working on expanding and prettifying the site. If you program, we probably have other uses still. Talk to osmose1000 or ask for a job in the Ministry of Information.

If you have an interest or hobby, chances are we can find some use for it. Like model rocketry? Good, help us with our "space program". Like sewing? Good, help us finally get a military uniform together. Do you write? So do we - help us with our "mythology" and fictional history. Put it on your form and our people will get together with your people and we'll work something out.

If you're set on becoming a noble...well...that's possible too. Check the section on becoming nobility in the Guide. Along with ruling a subdivision, nobles get to propose, discuss, and vote on bills in the Landsraad, providing a neverending source of fun (ha!) and happiness (ha! ha!). And if none of this appeals to you - figure something out or ask someone. Usually there's all sorts of random stuff popping up that needs doing.
